Commanding Officer of the MASH unit
Does his best to maintain military decorum with an understanding that he is not the leader of a normal military unit and that many of the doctors and nurses under his command are not “regular army.”
A bit of a pushover and lets the Doctors get away their shenanigans
CAPTAIN BRIDGET McCARTHY

Most senior nurse of the group
Kind to the other nurses and supportive
Defends their way to doing things to Margaret’s criticism
In charge of the nursing staff until replaced by a higher rank (Houlihan)
Accordingly, she is somewhat motherly with the other nurses and is the most conversational with the doctors

A high school beauty queen of sorts who has found herself and grown in self-confidence as a nurse in a war zone

The camp dentist and owner of and purveyor of the 24 hour Poker game in his tent
Suffers from serious bouts of depression on a regular basis
Looked to as the recreation director of the unit but also has episodes of “depression.”
Has made numerous threats to kill himself that his colleagues no longer take him seriously

Originally from affluent means in Winchester, MA
Attended Dartmouth and played football and baseball
Draftee Doctor that once faces off against Hawkeye in a college football game when their schools met
They may not be old friends but that shared history lets them become fast friends when they met
Similar to Hawkeye and Duke, he has confidence in his ability as a surgeon, which leads to general indifference towards military protocol

Has decided that the best way to get through it is to have as much fun as possible

Becomes instantly close with Hawkeye even though they are from very different parts of the country

Is blamed (unfairly) for the death of a patient and reacts very badly to the cruel criticism
She however grows in confidence and outspokenness as she gains experience

A new head nurse brought in for the unit
A good nurse herself who insists on compliance with army protocol for the nurses and physicians, she will report any noncompliance

Wishes the 4077th was more proper military and for a while finds a kindred spirit in Frank, until he drives her away with his craziness
Has a reputation for being a bit friendly with certain generals in the past
(Actress will likely also play Congress woman Goldfarb)
